Payroll Officer

Hays are recruiting for an experienced Payroll Officer to join a well-established organisation based in Caerphilly on an 8-month temporary basis.This is a busy, hands-on payroll position working as part of an established finance and people function. The role offers excellent flexibility, with 2 days per week on site and 3 days working from home, plus an early finish every Friday.
Your new role

• Processing payroll from start to finish
• Processing starters, leavers and contractual changes
• Calculating SSP, SMP, SPP and other statutory payments
• Processing overtime, deductions and salary adjustments
• Supporting pension administration and auto-enrolment
• Completing RTI submissions
• Producing P45s and relevant payroll documentation
• Checking and reconciling payroll data
• Investigating payroll discrepancies
• Responding to employee payroll queries
• Working closely with HR and Finance
• Producing regular payroll reports
• Supporting month-end payroll reconciliations
• Maintaining accurate and confidential payroll records

What you'll need to succeed

• Previous UK payroll experience
• Experience processing payroll from start to finish
• Good knowledge of PAYE, National Insurance and statutory payments
• Understanding of pensions and auto-enrolment
• Experience dealing with HMRC submissions
• Good Excel skills
• Experience using payroll and HR systems
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work to strict payroll deadlines
