PMLD Teaching Assistant, Everton

We are currently recruiting for a PMLD Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive specialist setting in Everton. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to work closely with pupils who require tailored support, helping them access learning, develop essential life skills and enjoy a nurturing educational experience.

The Role:

As a PMLD Teaching Assistant, you will provide vital support to pupils with complex learning difficulties, physical disabilities and additional communication needs. Working alongside teachers and other professionals, you will help create an engaging, safe and inclusive environment where every student can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with PMLD.
• Assist students with communication, sensory and educational activities.
• Support pupils with personal care needs where required.
• Encourage independence and celebrate individual achievements.
• Adapt resources and activities to meet individual learning needs.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support staff.
• Promote a safe, nurturing and positive learning environment.
• Support students with mobility and physical needs when necessary.

Requirements:

• Experience working with children or young people with complex SEND needs is desirable.
• A caring, patient and resilient approach.
• Confidence supporting pupils with additional learning, communication or physical needs.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Personal care experience is beneficial but not essential.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one, is essential.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
