   Are you a strong, confident and experienced Teaching Assistant who is able to manage challenging behaviour and build positive relationships with pupils?

   A welcoming mainstream primary school in Cosham, Portsmouth, is looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their Year 4 team as soon as possible.

   The Role

   You will be supporting a Year 4 class where there is a significant amount of challenging behaviour. The successful candidate will need to be confident, consistent and calm, with the ability to establish clear boundaries while developing positive relationships with pupils.

   Your responsibilities will include:

   • Supporting the class teacher with the day-to-day running of the classroom

   • Helping pupils engage with their learning and reach their potential

   • Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour effectively

   • Providing encouragement and positive reinforcement

   • Supporting individual pupils and small groups where required

   • Helping maintain a calm, safe and positive learning environment

   • Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team

   The school is looking for someone who is:

   • Experienced working in a primary school setting

   • Confident managing challenging behaviour

   • Calm, patient and resilient

   • Consistent and confident when setting boundaries

   • Able to build strong, trusting relationships with children

   • Proactive and able to use their own initiative

   • A positive team player with a genuine passion for supporting children
