About the Role

A further education provider in the East Midlands is looking for a Learning Support Assistant to work alongside teaching staff and help learners with additional needs get the most from their studies.

You'll provide one-to-one and small-group support in lessons, adapting your approach to suit each learner and helping them build confidence and independence. You'll also support learners with routines and day-to-day college life, keeping records of the support you provide.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing one-to-one and small-group support to learners with additional learning needs.
• Helping learners access the curriculum and develop independent learning skills.
• Working with teaching staff to put support strategies in place and adapt learning materials.
• Encouraging engagement, inclusion and positive behaviour in the classroom.
• Maintaining accurate records and contributing to learner support plans and reviews.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Experience supporting young people or adults in an educational, care or community setting
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with patience and empathy
• The ability to build positive, professional relationships with learners and staff
• A genuine commitment to inclusive learning

Desirable (but not essential):

• Experience working with learners with SEND or SEMH needs
• Knowledge of EHCPs and learning support strategies
• A relevant qualification in education or support work, or a willingness to work towards one
