Support Children with Additional Needs to Reach Their Potential
A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Worthing is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their team supporting pupils across Year 3 and Year 4.
This role will involve working closely with children who have a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them to access learning, develop confidence, and thrive both academically and socially within the classroom environment.
The Role

Support pupils within Year 3 and Year 4 classrooms
Provide 1:1 and small-group support for children with SEND
Work alongside teachers to adapt learning activities and resources
Encourage pupil engagement, independence, and positive behaviour
Deliver targeted interventions to support learning and development
Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
Monitor progress and communicate effectively with teaching staff

SEND Experience Desirable
The school would particularly welcome applicants with experience supporting children with:

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
ADHD
Speech and Language Needs
Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH)
Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
Sensory Processing Needs

The Ideal Candidate

Previous experience working with children in a school, nursery, or childcare setting
Experience supporting pupils with additional needs is highly desirable
Patient, caring, and resilient approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
Passion for making a difference in children’s lives
