Daily Rate: £105 to £110 per day

We are recruiting a resilient and dependable Challenging Behaviour Support worker to join a supportive school in Preston. This is a full-time role starting ASAP, working Monday to Friday during term time.

About the Role:

You will support pupils whose behaviour presents a barrier to their learning, many of whom have SEMH needs, trauma backgrounds or unmet additional needs. Your job is to help them stay regulated, stay in class and start to build trust with the adults around them.

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing one to one and small group support to pupils displaying challenging behaviour
• Using de-escalation and positive behaviour strategies consistently and fairly
• Following individual behaviour plans and risk assessments alongside the class teacher and SENCO
• Helping pupils recognise triggers and develop their own coping strategies
• Recording incidents accurately and feeding back to the pastoral team

Who We're Looking For:

We welcome applications from people with experience as a Behaviour Mentor, Pastoral Support Assistant, SEMH Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant, as well as those from youth work, residential childcare, sports coaching or the uniformed services.
You must be:

• Resilient and consistent, even on difficult days
• Calm under pressure and able to keep perspective
• Firm and fair, with clear and predictable boundaries
• A strong communicator who works well within a team
• Holder of an enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willing to apply for one

Team Teach or similar de-escalation training is welcome but not essential, as training can be provided.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 14.3% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
