About the role
Job Title: Senior Transport Planner
Location: Yeadon, Leeds (on-site)
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 + Benefits
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent, Monday to Friday, days
Loom Talent is recruiting a Senior Transport Planner on behalf of a long-established, logistics business based in Yeadon, North Leeds, providing warehousing, storage and transport services to customers across the UK.
This is a senior, hands-on planning role at the centre of a busy in-house HGV operation. You'll own day-to-day planning for the fleet, keep it efficient, compliant and fully utilised and be the go-to person for the more complex or time-critical work.
What you'll be doing:
- Planning and scheduling daily routes and loads for the HGV fleet, allocating drivers and vehicles based on load requirements, availability and drivers' hours
- Using the TMS and vehicle tracking to monitor live movements, manage exceptions and keep customers and internal teams updated
- Working closely with warehouse, customer service and subcontract hauliers to secure capacity and align dispatch with order priorities
- Briefing and debriefing drivers, producing manifests and transport documentation and keeping operational records accurate
- Monitoring compliance (drivers' hours, WTD, DVSA, H&S) and identifying opportunities to improve utilisation and service levels
What we're looking for:
- Strong track record in a transport planning or coordination role, ideally within a 3PL, haulage or distribution environment, planning HGV fleets
- National or International CPC
- Solid working knowledge of UK transport compliance: drivers' hours, Working Time Directive, DVSA
- Confident using transport management and tracking systems, plus Excel
- Calm under pressure, organised and a clear communicator with drivers, hauliers and customers
Why apply:
- Join a well-established, family-run business with a strong reputation and a close-knit team
- Monday to Friday, day shift, no weekend working
- Competitive salary of £40,000 - £45,000 depending on experience
- Stable, permanent position with a business investing in its operation
