You ll work alongside the class teacher, helping pupils understand instructions, take part in activities and become more independent. Your day could include listening to children read, supporting a small group or helping a pupil organise their work and get started. Good classroom support means knowing when to explain, when to encourage and when to let a child try. You ll share useful observations with the teacher and reinforce classroom routines. Experience that translates into the classroom Direct experience working with primary–aged children in a school, nursery, childcare or other relevant setting. Experience helping children follow instructions and participate in activities. Experience working alongside others to support children s learning or development.
