Mechanical Design Contract Cambridge 2 months Hybrid 50-55PH Outside IR35 Role Overview We require an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer on an Outside IR35 contract basis to deliver mechanical design packages for sub-modules intended for integration onto an Unmanned Aerial System (UAS). The role focuses on detailed CAD development, assembly management, and vendor liaison for rapid prototyping and low-volume manufacturing. Key Responsibilities Design and develop mechanical sub-modules and packaging for UAS integration. Manage CAD structures, complex assemblies, and design references using PTC Creo and Windchill. Liaise directly with manufacturing facilities to source rapid-turnaround components, select appropriate materials, and determine production methods. Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams across electronics, RF, and systems integration. Required Technical Profile Essential: Proven track record in mechanical design engineering within aerospace, defense, or high-reliability electronic systems. Expert-level proficiency in PTC Creo. Strong working knowledge of Windchill PDM/PLM. Hands-on experience with the Creo Advanced Assembly Extension (AAX) for top-down design and skeleton models. Desirable: Design experience with aerodynamic enclosures, fairings, or pods. Experience designing radomes or RF-transparent structures. Demonstrated background in DFM (Design for Manufacture) for rapid-turnaround parts (CNC machining, additive manufacturing, composites). Please apply within to be considered. This is an immediate start
