About the role
Are you an ambitious Employment Barrister looking to take your advocacy career to the next level? Here’s an opportunity to join one of the UK’s leading national law firms and help shape the future of a growing, forward-thinking Advocacy Unit.
With a salary of up to £120,000, exposure to high-profile clients and the opportunity to influence the continued expansion of the firm’s advocacy offering, this role is ideal for a Barrister who wants to combine exceptional advocacy work with strategic client engagement and business development.
You’ll represent household-name organisations, prestigious educational institutions and public sector bodies, working across commercial, healthcare and education sectors on challenging and rewarding employment matters.
What makes this role exciting?
This is more than a traditional advocacy position. You’ll play an active role in developing an expanding practice, building client relationships and helping deliver a first-class employment advocacy service.
Your work will include:
• Employment Tribunal advocacy: Representing employers and other clients at preliminary and final hearings.
• Strategic legal advice: Advising on a broad range of employment law issues, with a focus on practical, commercially sound outcomes.
• High-profile clients: Working with leading national and international organisations across a diverse range of sectors.
• Practice development: Contributing to the continued growth and success of an innovative Advocacy Unit.
• Client engagement: Building strong relationships and delivering exceptional service to a prestigious client base.
• Training and development: Supporting client training initiatives and sharing your employment law expertise.
• Business development: Helping identify new opportunities and strengthen the firm's position in the employment advocacy market.
Who are we looking for?
We welcome applications from qualified Barristers with 2–5 years’ relevant post-qualification experience who are ready to develop their profile within a leading national practice.
You’ll bring:
• Strong experience representing clients in Employment Tribunal proceedings.
• Excellent technical knowledge of employment law.
• Outstanding advocacy, communication and analytical skills.
• The ability to deliver clear, commercially focused advice.
• Strong client relationship management skills and a professional, confident approach.
• Commercial awareness and an interest in developing new business opportunities.
• A proactive attitude and the ambition to contribute to the growth of a successful team.
The rewards
Alongside a highly competitive salary of £90,000–£120,000, depending on experience, the firm offers an attractive benefits package designed to support your career and wellbeing.
Benefits include:
• Equal all-staff bonus scheme.
• Generous pension provision.
• Enhanced family leave arrangements.
• Life assurance and income protection.
• Comprehensive employee assistance programme.
• Flexible benefits to suit your individual needs.
