About the role
Thorn Baker is looking to hire an experienced Site Manager to oversee the safe and successful delivery of modular construction projects across a range of sectors including education, healthcare, commercial, infrastructure, defence and residential. These projects are delivered using modern methods of construction (MMC), providing high-quality, sustainable building solutions nationwide.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all on-site activities from mobilisation through to project completion, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day site operations and project delivery.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and specialist trades.
- Ensure works are completed in line with programme and project objectives.
- Maintain the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.
- Conduct site inductions, toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Liaise with clients, consultants and key stakeholders.
- Oversee quality control and ensure all works meet project specifications.
- Manage modular installation, fit-out and commissioning activities.
- Monitor project progress and prepare regular site reports.
- Support project handover and defect management processes.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Site Manager within the construction industry.
- Experience delivering modular, off-site, MMC or traditional build projects.
- Excellent knowledge of construction processes and site health & safety.
- Strong leadership and subcontractor management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and meet project deadlines.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Commercial awareness and problem-solving capability.
Qualifications
- SMSTS
- CSCS Black or Gold Card
- First Aid at Work
- Full UK Driving Licence
- NVQ Level 6 Construction Site Management (desirable)
- Temporary Works Coordinator (advantageous)
