Trainee Quantity SurveyorLocation: IpswichSalary: up to £28,000Required for our client to join them in their office in Ipswich. The company that the Trainee Quantity Surveyor will be working for a Civil Engineering Contractors, delivering projects nationwide for clients throughout the UK and working across a wide range of sectors. The Trainee Quantity Surveyor may get the opportunity to study towards a degree at university which will be sponsored . The Trainee Quantity Surveyor will work along side and support the Commercial team, and will benefit from working within a supportive learning environment ensuring their personal development and opportunity to progress.Trainee Quantity Surveyor Position OverviewMaking site visits to carry out inspections.Prepare, maintain and process financial and project transactions.Support the Commercial and Sales team with admin tasks and ad-hoc duties.Analysis of project costs and preparation of monthly cost reports and commentary for any varianceValuing completed work and applying for paymentsAttend meetings onsite or elsewhere with the Site Teams, Clients, Suppliers and other parties as requiredUse systems and processes, allowing effective measurement of commercial performanceAssist in provide accurate, real time, monthly reports (Cost Value Reconciliations) and final outcome forecasts Trainee Quantity Surveyor Position RequirementsAn interest in developing a career in Quantity Surveying within the construction or civil engineering industry.Some understanding of the role of a Quantity Surveyor and commercial processes within construction.Strong numerical and analytical skills with good attention to detail.Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.Excellent organisational and time management skills.A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.Previous experience within construction, civil engineering, commercial administration or estimating would be advantageous but is not essential.A qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related subject would be beneficial, although candidates without formal qualifications will be considered.Willingness to undertake further training and professional development, including the opportunity to complete a company-sponsored degree.
