We're looking for an experienced Lead Interaction Designer to drive design excellence across complex digital services, champion user-centred design practices, and help shape the future of our growing User-Centred Design (UCD) capability.
This role combines hands-on design leadership with strategic influence, offering the opportunity to define standards, mentor designers, and ensure the delivery of accessible, evidence-led digital experiences that meet user and business needs.
What You'll Do
As a Lead Interaction Designer, you will play a key role in setting the direction for interaction design across multiple products and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design of intuitive, accessible, and user-centred digital services.
- Champion evidence-led design practices, ensuring user needs remain at the heart of delivery.
- Define and promote interaction design standards, principles, and best practices.
- Provide design leadership, assurance, and quality reviews across multiple teams and programmes.
- Drive consistency through design systems, reusable patterns, and design frameworks.
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers, User Researchers, Service Designers, Content Designers, Engineers, and Delivery teams.
- Support and mentor other designers, helping to build capability and strengthen the design community.
- Influence stakeholders at all levels, advocating for user-centred approaches and design excellence.
- Contribute to the growth and maturity of the UCD practice across Mastek.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and innovation.
What We're Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience
- Extensive experience delivering interaction design within complex digital environments.
- Strong understanding of user-centred design, accessibility, usability, and prototyping.
- Experience creating and maintaining design systems, reusable patterns, and design standards.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive positive change through design.
- Experience mentoring or coaching designers and supporting capability development.
- Strong collaborative skills and experience working within multidisciplinary agile teams.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on design delivery.
Desirable
- Experience working within Government, Financial Services, Healthcare, or other regulated sectors.
- Knowledge of GDS Service Standards and accessibility best practices.
- Experience scaling and embedding User-Centred Design practices across large organisations.
- Experience working on large-scale digital transformation programmes.
