About the role
Interim Financial Controller | Inside IR35 | £500–£600 per day (umbrella) | Hybrid
My client, a large private equity-backed services business, needs an experienced Financial Controller to start in mid-November on an interim basis. You’ll be the Finance Director’s right-hand person in a busy, fast-paced function of around 20, with minimal handover and a need to be effective from day one.
The role
- Own the month-end close for a set of key contracts and internal departments. This is a hands-on role, not review only.
- Review the P&L, challenge the numbers and prepare clear commentary on the variances.
- Take ad hoc analysis requests from the FD and MD and deliver them quickly.
- Support the group reporting pack and the year-end audit.
About you
- A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with UK Financial Controller experience.
- Experience in a large PE-backed business with complex contracts and high transaction volumes.
- Strong commercial judgement. You can spot what looks wrong in a P&L and know where to dig deeper.
- Used to working with limited handover, and confident engaging with senior stakeholders.
- Resilient under month-end pressure, and flexible when peak periods demand it.
- Business Central and TM1 experience is helpful but not essential.
