A Local Authority in Bedfordshire is looking for an Environmental Health Officer to join their team at an exciting time of change. With Local Government Reorganisation on the horizon, this is a great opportunity to contribute to essential frontline services, support local communities and help shape the future of Environmental Health.
Key Responsibilities
- Protect tenants' health, safety and wellbeing by investigating complaints relating to poor housing conditions and identifying potential hazards.
- Ensure homes are safe and legally compliant by carring out HHSRS inspections.
- Improve living conditions and prevent issues from escalating by working collaboratively with landlords and tenants to resolve housing concerns.
- Hold landlords accountable and ensure that hazards are addressed by taking appropriate enforcement action where necessary.
- Promote compliance and prevent future housing issues by providing clear advie and guidance on housing regulations and legal responsibilities.
About You
You'll be a proactive Private Sector Housing professional with a passion for improving living conditions and protecting tenants who brings:
- Experience within a Local Authority's PSH function.
- Knowledge of housing legislation, property standards and enforcement procedures.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to manage a varied caseload and work effectively with landlords, tenants and external organisations.
- Preferably an Environmental Health degree.
