We're looking for an experienced Software Engineer to design, build and maintain secure, reliable and scalable digital solutions using C#, .NET and Microsoft Azure.
You'll work across APIs, back-end engineering and, where required, front-end development, supporting both new digital capabilities and the modernisation of our existing applications. You'll collaborate with Software Engineers, Architects, Quality Engineers, Product Owners, Business Analysts and Agile Coaches throughout the full delivery lifecycle.
What you'll be doing- Designing, developing and maintaining web applications, APIs and integration services.

- Developing and maintaining automated unit, integration and API tests.
- Contributing to technical design, backlog refinement, estimation, demonstrations and retrospectives.
- Taking part in peer code and design reviews.
- Supporting automated build and deployment pipelines, including quality and security checks.
- Applying secure-by-design principles and helping identify and remediate vulnerabilities.
- Using logging, telemetry and monitoring to support applications in production.
- Investigating incidents and contributing to root-cause analysis and service improvements.
- Improving existing applications through refactoring, automation and reducing technical debt.
- Using approved AI-assisted development tools responsibly to support coding, testing, investigation and documentation.
- Sharing knowledge and working collaboratively across technical teams and delivery partners. [Software E…vices v1.2 | Word]
You'll have strong commercial software engineering experience, including:
- C# and modern .NET, including ASP.NET Core
- Object-oriented development, SOLID principles and dependency injection
- Designing, building and consuming REST APIs, including OpenAPI
- Microsoft Azure, particularly PaaS and serverless services
- Relational databases, SQL and data modelling
- Git, pull requests and automated CI/CD pipelines, ideally using Azure DevOps
- Automated testing across applications and integrations
- Logs, telemetry and debugging tools such as Application Insights
- Secure software development, including authentication, authorisation and secrets management
- Automated code quality and security tooling such as Wiz, SonarQube Cloud or Snyk
- Working collaboratively within an Agile delivery environment
Experience using AI coding assistants responsibly, with the ability to critically review generated code, tests and documentation, is also part of the role
Experience with any of the following would be beneficial:
- Blazor
- CosmosDB or other NoSQL/document databases
- Containerised applications
- Asynchronous messaging
- Distributed caching
You'll be someone who takes ownership of software throughout its lifecycle and can balance delivery pace with quality, security and long-term maintainability.
You'll communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues, raise risks and blockers early, and be comfortable giving and receiving constructive feedback. Most importantly, you'll be curious, collaborative and focused on delivering technology that achieves the right outcomes for customers and colleagues. [Software E…vices v1.2 | Word]
ExperienceWe're looking for someone with five or more years' commercial experience developing and supporting production software. Experience delivering software within a UK-regulated environment, ideally financial services, is also required.
Relevant qualifications and certifications are welcomed, although equivalent practical experience is equally valued
