About the role
Our client, a well-regarded international law firm, is looking for a Business Development Specialist to join their London-based Marketing and Business Development team. You'll work closely with the Senior Manager, Global Marketing, supporting two distinct and active practice areas, bringing energy and expertise to a broad mix of business development and marketing communications work.
What You'll Be Doing
Business Development
- Prepare and coordinate pitches, proposals, and RFP responses, along with client presentation materials tailored to practice and regional market needs
- Support the planning and delivery of client sponsorships, seminars, webinars, and associated follow-up activity
- Own marketing and BD campaigns from inception through to implementation, coordinating across practice groups as required
- Draft and coordinate submissions to key legal directories, awards, and rankings (including Chambers and Legal 500) to strengthen practice group market profiles
- Research referral sources, sponsorship opportunities, and speaking engagements to raise the profile of the firm's International Disputes and Environment, Food and Chemicals practices
- Maintain CRM, matter, experience, and pipeline data to support reporting and targeting, and monitor industry trends to identify new opportunities in the form of pitches, alerts, webinars, and events
- Prepare materials for practice group meetings and respond to internal requests for marketing collateral, including new business proposals and lawyer biographies
- Support the tracking of activities outlined in practice group and individual lawyers' business development plans, in collaboration with the Senior Manager
Marketing Communications
- Collaborate with lawyers and MarCom colleagues to produce marketing communications, including blog posts, client advisories, and announcements, and contribute to internal newsletters
- Maintain and update website content, including lawyer biographies and practice group pages
- Partner with the firm's Events team to identify event opportunities and carry out BD-focused follow-up activity
What We're Looking For
- Solid experience in a business development role within a law firm or comparable legal environment
- Experience supporting Litigation or Arbitration practice groups, working alongside partners and associates
- A degree-level qualification, ideally in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, English, or a related discipline
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, CRM systems, proposal management tools, and experience management databases
- Excellent written communication skills, with strong writing, editing, and proofreading ability
- Well-developed project management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines
- A high degree of professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential information
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate, well-written first drafts independently.
