About the role
Salary: £45,000 - 85,000 per year
Requirements
- 2 years of experience in database engineering, cloud platform operations, or a related infrastructure engineering discipline
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS
- Knowledge of relational database technologies, including MySQL and Aurora
- Experience with database monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, backup, and recovery
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools, including Terraform and Ansible
- Linux administration and scripting or programming skills, ideally Python
- Familiarity with version control technologies such as Git
- Knowledge of security best practices and their practical application in platform design and operations
Responsibilities
- Help operate and evolve highly available cloud database platforms hosted in AWS
- Contribute to the design and implementation of scalable, resilient, and secure systems
- Investigate and resolve complex technical challenges alongside experienced engineers
- Monitor, analyse, and optimise database and platform performance
- Automate operational processes using Infrastructure as Code and modern DevOps practices
- Support backup, recovery, and business continuity capabilities
- Evaluate and introduce technologies that improve platform performance, stability, and security
- Collaborate with architects, developers, security teams, and business stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes
