Machining Trainee / Technician Taunton, Somerset 35–hour week Monday to Friday Day Shift Full Training Provided Career Development Opportunity Meridian Business Support is recruiting on behalf of our client for a Machining Trainee / Technician to join their specialist manufacturing team in Taunton, Somerset. This role offers the opportunity to develop a career in precision engineering, with full training provided for trainee–level candidates and further development opportunities for experienced technicians. Working as part of a small, supportive team, you will be involved in the production of precision components, following detailed engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. The Role As a Machining Trainee / Technician, your duties will include: Mounting workpieces and preparing jobs for productionSetting up machinery in line with drawings and specificationsOperating machinery to manufacture precision componentsDemounting completed work safely and efficientlyCleaning finished components to the required standardsCarrying out routine machine maintenance and housekeeping activitiesInspecting and checking completed work for quality and accuracyFollowing engineering drawings, specifications and work instructionsAdhering to Health & Safety and COSHH procedures at all timesThe Machining Trainee / Technician will work a 35–hour week on a Monday to Friday day shift, with flexibility around working hours where required. Skills & Experience To be considered for this Machining Trainee / Technician role, you should have: A Level 2 or Level 3 Engineering qualification (preferred)Good attention to detail and the ability to follow technical documentationA positive attitude and willingness to learn new skillsPrevious machining, manufacturing, engineering or workshop experience for Technician–level applicantsAn interest in precision engineering, mechanical manufacturing or machine operationSalary & Benefits Trainee 12.71 – 13.31 per hourSuitable for candidates with little or no machining experienceFull training providedTechnician 13.69 – 14.00 per hourSuitable for candidates with previous machining experience and a Level 2 or Level 3 Engineering qualificationAdditional benefits include: Monday to Friday working patternDay shifts35–hour working weekFull training and ongoing developmentSupportive team environmentLong–term career prospects within a specialist engineering businessPlease note that any offer of employment will be subject to a basic DBS check.
