HGV 1 Shunter Driver

HGV 1 Shunter Driver (nights) Location: Banbury We are recruiting an experienced HGV Class 1 Shunter Driver to join our client's transport operation on a temp to perm basis. Full time 48 hours per week. This role is ideal for a reliable and safety-conscious driver with a minimum of 6 months' HGV Class 1 driving experience, who is confident manoeuvring vehicles around a busy yard and positioning trailers safely on and off loading bays. Pay Rates * £18.50 - £23.00 per hour PAYE Working Hours * 48 hours per week * Monday to Friday or Sunday to Thursday * 18:00 - 03:30 * Overtime available Key Responsibilities * Safely shunting HGV Class 1 vehicles around the yard and positioning trailers on and off loading bays. * Parking vehicles safely and ensuring they are ready for departure. * Checking vehicle refrigeration units and freezer thermostats, reporting any faults promptly. * Ensuring refrigeration units are set to the correct temperature and maintaining food safety and chill chain standards. * Reporting vehicle damage, health and safety concerns, and any issues with the working environment. * Maintaining regular communication with the Transport Department via handheld radio to ensure vehicles are available when required. * Occasionally collecting vehicles from workshops and supporting the trunking operation when required. * Completing other ad hoc duties as needed. Requirements * Valid HGV Class 1 driving licence. * A strong commitment to health and safety. * Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a transport team. * A reliable, flexible and safety-conscious approach to work.
