Software Apprentice

Start your software engineering career with Vodafone through this Level 6 Software Engineering apprenticeship based in London Paddington. This programme combines hands-on experience with academic study over 36 months, giving you the opportunity to work on real systems while earning a BSc in Digital and Technology Solutions. You will join production engineering teams from day one, developing practical skills across the full software lifecycle and building foundations for a long-term career in technology within a global organisation. The Role We have Software teams embedded across Technology including in IoT, Unified Communications, Public Cloud Services, and internal systems. Whichever of our world-class teams you join as an apprentice, you’ll help us realise our vision of the digital future. Gain expertise in Systems Development, Solution Architecture, Designing & Developing Products for the Internet of Things, Planning & Implementing Dev Ops, and more. You’ll work with production Software Engineering teams, taking on real responsibilities from day one, evolving our internal and customer-facing systems. Create new code across the entire software development lifecycle, design software components, and deploy software to our production systems. Build collaborative relationships with various teams, and work on fast-paced projects within the business. Training and Development Hands-On Education: You’ll gain a combination of virtual classroom and on-the-job learning alongside industry leaders in all things software engineering who will share their knowledge with you. Training and Development: Expect to become a software engineering expert capable of using the latest software development languages, produce and test high quality code and create robust software designs. Requirements You must be at least 18 years old on or before 15 September 2026. GCSEs in English & Maths at grade C/4 or above or equivalent qualifications and 3 A Levels gained by August 2026 or equivalent qualifications. You must not currently be enrolled into full time education, and you must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level in a similar subject. Right to work in the UK and residency in the UK and/or EU for three years or more. Keen interest in software engineering with a genuine passion for technology. Previous exposure to coding and essential programming concepts. Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Ability to communicate effectively and work both independently and as part of a team. Willingness to adapt and learn in a fast-changing technical environment.
