Credit Controller
Salary: £35,000 plus commission
Location: Bedford, Bedfordshire
Robert Walters is partnering with an established organisation based in Bedford, Bedfordshire, who are looking to recruit a Credit Controller to join their finance team.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys the customer-facing side of credit control, as the role will be heavily focused on telephone-based debt collection, building customer relationships and driving timely payments. The business is keen to embrace AI and automation, with a focus on streamlining processes and reducing manual administration. They're looking for someone who is tech-savvy, proactive and interested in finding smarter ways of working. Experience with Sage Intacct or similar accounting systems would be beneficial.
Key responsibilities:
- Proactively contact customers by phone and email to chase outstanding debt.
- Build strong customer relationships and resolve payment queries.
- Reduce debtor days and overdue balances.
- Agree payment plans and follow up on commitments.
- Monitor customer accounts, credit limits and potential risks.
- Liaise with internal teams, insurers and solicitors where required.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes through automation and more efficient ways of working.
About you:
- Previous experience in credit control or accounts receivable.
- Confident communicator who enjoys speaking with customers and negotiating payments.
- Proactive, organised and commercially minded.
- Tech-savvy, with an interest in AI, automation and process improvement.
- Experience with Excel and accounting systems such as Sage Intacct or similar.
- Able to work independently and take ownership of customer accounts.
