About the role
Our client is a well-established civil engineering contractor, specialising in drainage, civils and utilities, working under AMP 8 for main contractors. They are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Estimator to join their team based in the North East.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional with a strong background in estimating within the groundworks industry to contribute to a reputable contractor known for delivering high-quality projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review a projects and take control of the tendering process
- Evaluate risk and protect the business when submitting their tenders.
- Prepare competitive tenders and detailed cost estimates
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and project documentation
- Help compile bills of quantities and material take-offs
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations
- Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings as required
- Learn to identify and evaluate commercial risks and opportunities in civil/groundworks packages
Requirements:
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or Civil Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Proven experience in estimating within the civil engineering, utilities sector.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and pricing.
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
