Based in Nottingham with national travel, you'll take ownership of projects from design through installation, commissioning and handover, often in live operational environments where safe, well-planned delivery really matters.
Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, you'll work across internal teams, suppliers, clients and contractors to deliver automation projects on time and within budget. This is a role for someone who enjoys variety, strong stakeholder management and the challenge of making real operational impact across multiple UK sites.
Key responsibilities

- Deliver work safely and efficiently in live operational environments, with minimal disruption to site operations
- Build strong working relationships with internal teams, suppliers, clients, subcontractors and contractors
- Develop project plans, risk assessments and budgets in line with company procedures
- Ensure all project activity complies with CDM regulations, health and safety standards, and company policies
- Coordinate on-site activity and oversee installation teams to maintain quality and safety standards
- Prepare clear project documentation, progress updates and financial reporting
- Identify, manage and escalate project risks and issues where needed
What you'll need to have (our must-haves)
- Proven project leadership experience in an automation or engineering environment
- Experience delivering complex engineering projects in live operational environments
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- A track record of managing tight deadlines and complex budgets
- Working knowledge of CDM regulations
- Willingness to travel nationally, including overnight stays
- A full UK driving licence
It would be great if you also have
- Experience working with automated materials handling systems
- ASRS project experience
- SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme)
- PRINCE2 or another formal project management qualification
- LOLER awareness and an appreciation for automation utilities
