SEND Teaching Assistant

We are currently recruiting for a SEND Teaching Assistant to work in a welcoming, two-form-entry primary school in Cannock, which has been rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted.

This SEND Teaching Assistant role involves providing dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 3 pupil with ADHD who requires additional support with their learning, development and engagement in the classroom.

The school is looking for a confident, patient and experienced Teaching Assistant who can build positive relationships with the pupil, implement effective behaviour management strategies and provide consistent, tailored support to meet their individual needs. You will work closely with the class teacher to support learning activities, encourage participation and help the pupil develop their confidence, independence and social skills.

The successful candidate will be proactive, nurturing and able to adapt their approach to support the pupil throughout the school day, helping them access learning in a positive and inclusive environment.

The position is full-time, starting as soon as possible and continuing until July 2027. The working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.

Required Skills and Experience

To be considered for this Teaching Assistant role, you must:

• Hold a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification, or an equivalent qualification.

• Have good knowledge and experience of supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

• Have experience working in a nursery or primary school as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant (LSA).

• Have experience supporting pupils with ADHD or other additional learning needs.

• Have strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils.

• Be patient, adaptable and confident in providing consistent 1:1 support.

• Be able to work collaboratively with the class teacher and other school staff.

• Hold a DBS certificate registered on the Update Service, or have a DBS certificate issued within the last 12 months.

• Be able to provide a minimum of two strong professional references.

• Have recent UK school-based experience.
