School Caretaker

Location: Twickenham, London
Pay Rate: £18-£19 per hour
Hours: Rotating shifts

Contract: Ongoing temporary assignment with the potential for permanent employment

We are currently recruiting for a reliable and proactive School Caretaker to join a school in Twickenham, London. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced caretaker or a hands-on individual with a strong maintenance background who is looking for an ongoing role with the potential to secure permanent employment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining a safe, clean, secure and well-maintained school environment for pupils, staff and visitors.

The role operates on a rotating shift pattern, with the following working hours:

• Early Shift: 6:30am - 2:30pm

• Day Shift: 8:00am - 4:00pm

• Late Shift: 10:00am - 6:00pm

Flexibility to work across all three shift patterns is essential.

• Opening and securing the school premises as required.

• Carrying out general maintenance, repairs and basic DIY tasks.

• Ensuring the school grounds and buildings are safe, tidy and well maintained.

• Conducting routine site inspections and reporting any maintenance or health and safety issues.

• Assisting with deliveries, setting up rooms and moving equipment when required.

• Monitoring site security and ensuring access procedures are followed.

• Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the school site.

• Responding promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.

• Previous experience in caretaking, facilities management, maintenance or a similar role is desirable.

• A practical, hands-on approach with good problem-solving skills.

• Strong awareness of health and safety and site security.

• A reliable, flexible and professional attitude.

• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• An enhanced DBS check is required, with the appointment subject to satisfactory safeguarding checks.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
