Senior Project Manager

About the Role & Company

A high‑performing Design & Build contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to take full ownership of large‑value commercial projects typically £10m+. This role requires a confident leader with a proven track record of delivering complex schemes from inception through to completion, working collaboratively with commercial, technical and design teams to ensure best‑in‑class outcomes.

You will be responsible for programme leadership, commercial oversight, technical coordination, and client engagement, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the autonomous delivery of major projects valued £10m and above, ensuring full accountability for programme, quality, safety and client satisfaction.
• Manage and support all commercial aspects of the project, working closely with the Commercial Manager on procurement, cost control, variations and reporting.
• Develop, manage and deliver detailed project programmes, coordinating sequencing, logistics and critical path activities to meet agreed timescales.
• Oversee the delivery of Design & Build / Detail & Build projects, ensuring seamless integration between design, technical services and site delivery.
• Manage, coordinate and support the Technical Services Manager and wider technical team, ensuring MEP, compliance and commissioning activities are fully aligned.
• Work collaboratively with architects, consultants and professional design teams, ensuring buildability, clarity and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
• Maintain strong, long‑term client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact from pre‑construction through to handover.
• Provide leadership, direction and support to site teams, subcontractors and suppliers, driving a positive, solutions‑focused culture.
• Ensure all project documentation, reporting, H&S compliance and quality assurance processes are completed to a high standard.
• Demonstrate commitment, stability and long‑term project ownership, taking schemes from early design stages through to successful completion.

Experience & Requirements

• Proven experience delivering large‑value (£10m+) commercial projects within a D&B or Detail & Build environment.
• Strong commercial awareness with the ability to support and challenge commercial decisions.
• Demonstrable programme management capability, with experience planning and coordinating complex, multi‑phase projects.
• Extensive experience working with technical teams, including TSMs and MEP specialists.
• Strong collaborative approach with architects, consultants and wider design teams.
• A stable employment history showing long‑term commitment and successful delivery across multiple major projects.
• Excellent communication, leadership and problem‑solving skills.
• SMSTS, CSCS and relevant construction qualifications preferred.
