Teaching Assistant

We are currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to work in a welcoming and supportive primary school based in Lichfield.

This Teaching Assistant role involves working closely with the class teacher to create a safe, engaging and positive learning environment within a Nursery class. The school is looking for a caring, patient and enthusiastic candidate who is passionate about supporting young children's learning, development and wellbeing.

The successful candidate will support children with their early learning, communication, social skills and personal development, helping them build confidence and develop independence. Personal care will also be required as part of the role, so candidates must feel comfortable supporting children with their personal hygiene.

This role will start in January 2027 and continue until March 2027. The working hours are Tuesday to Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.

There is also the potential for a temp-to-perm opportunity for the right candidate.

Required Skills and Experience

To be considered for this Teaching Assistant role, you must:

• Hold a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or an equivalent qualification.

• Have a good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.

• Have previous experience working in a nursery or primary school as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant (LSA).

• Have experience supporting children through small-group activities and 1:1 interventions.

• Be comfortable providing personal care and supporting children's hygiene and daily care needs.

• Have a good understanding of safeguarding and the importance of creating a safe learning environment.

• Hold a DBS certificate registered on the Update Service, or have a DBS certificate issued within the last 12 months.

• Be able to provide a minimum of two strong professional references.

• Have recent UK school-based experience.

• Demonstrate patience, excellent communication skills and a nurturing approach when working with young children.
