About the role
Dementia Navigator | Bristol area| 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9am-5pm | £25,391 to £27,450 Per Annum | Permanent
Every person affected by dementia has their own story. You’ll take the time to understand what matters to them and help them find the support that’s right for them.
At Alzheimer’s Society, we believe no one should face dementia alone.
As a Dementia Navigator, you’ll support people affected by dementia and memory loss across Bristol. You’ll listen, understand what they need and provide information, advice and ongoing support that helps them feel more informed and in control of their lives.
This is a role that gives you variety, flexibility and the chance to be where people need you. Some days you’ll be out across Bristol, visiting people at home, meeting GPs or connecting with local communities. At other times, you’ll be supporting people over the phone, working alongside your team in the office or using the flexibility to complete admin from home. You’ll manage your own diary and visits, with a supportive team around you when you need them.
You’ll work closely with NHS colleagues, GPs and other professionals to help create joined-up support, so people affected by dementia don’t have to keep repeating their story. You’ll also manage your own caseload in a busy service, so being organised, comfortable working independently and able to balance different priorities will be important.
You’ll join an established, progressive and award winning service, with a multidisciplinary team around you and opportunities to learn and develop.
There isn’t one type of background that leads to becoming a great Dementia Navigator. You may have worked in customer service, advice, support, community services or somewhere completely different where connecting with people has been at the heart of what you do. You don’t need to arrive with all the knowledge about dementia. We can help you build that. What you do need is the ability to listen, engage with people, manage your time and build relationships that make a difference.
About you
You could thrive in this role if you:
- Build trusting relationships and communicate well with different people.
- Listen carefully and can understand and respond to someone’s individual needs.
- Have experience working with people in a customer-facing, support, advice or engagement setting.
- Can manage your time and caseload effectively, even when things get busy.
- Are comfortable working independently while knowing when to reach out for support.
- Can build positive relationships with GPs, professionals, community organisations and colleagues.
- Are confident using everyday workplace technology and learning new systems.
- Can travel independently across Bristol as part of your working day.
You don’t need to meet every requirement or come from a particular career path. What matters is the skills you bring, how you connect with people and your commitment to making a difference for people affected by dementia.
Interviews are provisionally planned for the week commencing 16 November 2026 and are expected to take place in person in Bristol.
