About the role
Business Development Manager – Debt Recovery & Collections
Location: Field-based, remote (UK) | Salary: £55,000 – £75,000 + benefits
About the company
Our client is an FCA-regulated debt recovery and collections business, part of a large international group. They work with some of the UK’s best-known organisations across energy, water, telecoms, financial services and the public sector, helping them recover overdue balances and reconnect customers while treating those customers fairly. They are an established, well-accredited name in the industry and are now looking to grow their client base.
The role
You will own the full sales cycle, from identifying and approaching target organisations through to tendering, negotiation and close. You will be a field-based hunter, spending your time with prospective clients, building senior relationships and positioning a compliance-led, customer-focused approach to collections. You will work closely with operations, compliance and senior leadership to make sure what you sell can be delivered well.
Key responsibilities
- Generate and manage your own pipeline of new business across target sectors, including utilities, telecoms, financial services and public sector.
- Lead the full sales process: prospecting, qualification, proposals, tenders, commercial negotiation and close.
- Build credible relationships with senior stakeholders such as heads of credit, collections and revenue.
- Present the company’s service model, performance data and regulatory standing to prospective clients.
- Work with operational and compliance teams to shape solutions and ensure smooth onboarding of new clients.
- Maintain accurate CRM records and forecasting, and report on pipeline and results.
- Stay informed on market trends, competitors and regulatory developments in collections.
About you
- Proven full sales cycle experience, with a track record of winning new business and hitting or exceeding targets.
- Hands-on experience in debt collection or recovery, ideally selling collection services or working in a collections environment.
- Confident dealing with senior decision-makers, and comfortable with formal tenders and procurement processes.
- Good understanding of the UK regulatory landscape for collections, including FCA expectations around fair treatment and vulnerable customers.
- Self-motivated and well organised, able to work autonomously and travel as needed.
- Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
What’s on offer
- £55,000 – £75,000 depending on experience
- Remote, field-based working with travel across the UK
- The backing of an established, well-regarded brand and group
- Genuine scope to influence growth in a strategic sales role
