Senior SC Cleared AI Engineer
Remote (UK) | Outside IR35
This is an opportunity to join a long-term, mission-critical AI programme delivering cutting-edge solutions in highly secure environments. You’ll work on genuinely technical challenges, building AI applications from concept through to production, with the freedom to shape solutions in a fully remote contract role.

They are a specialist technology consultancy delivering software, data and AI solutions across complex, high-security environments. Their work focuses on solving challenging technical problems through modern engineering practices and innovative AI technologies. As part of a major long-term programme, they are expanding their AI engineering capability to support the delivery of secure, production-grade solutions. The environment is hands-on, collaborative, and focused on technical excellence.
The Role and Deliverables
- Design, build and deploy secure AI-powered applications and services.
- Develop solutions using LLMs, Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), and agentic AI frameworks.
- Deploy and operate self-hosted AI models in restricted, air-gapped environments.
- Build across the full stack using Python, TypeScript, APIs, and SQL/NoSQL databases.
- Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to translate evolving requirements into working software.
- Produce clear technical documentation and support solutions through to operational handover.
Your Skills & Experience
- Active SC Clearance and current BPSS eligibility.
- Strong hands-on experience building full-stack applications using Python and TypeScript.
- Experience developing and deploying LLM, RAG, and agentic AI solutions.
- Strong knowledge of Docker, containerisation, and self-hosted model deployments.
- Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases in production environments.
- Ability to turn ambiguous requirements into practical, scalable technical solutions.
- Strong documentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience delivering technology solutions within secure government, defence, or similarly regulated environments is highly desirable.
- Exposure to Azure, GCP, vector databases, semantic search, knowledge graphs, or AI observability tools would be beneficial.
