About the role

Customer Service Assistant (Receptionist)

Are you interested in joining the number one University in Greater Manchester for student experience?

Here at the University of Greater Manchester, we are proud of our growing reputation as a student-focused University. With our strategy of "Teaching Intensive, Research Informed, Assessment Enabled", we are committed to offering our students the best experience possible.

Due to an exciting opportunity within our Student Services & Experience Directorate, we are seeking to appoint a full-time Customer Service Assistant (Receptionist) to provide a professional and welcoming front-line service to students, staff, visitors and external stakeholders based at Senate House.

As the first point of contact for many enquiries, you will play a key role in delivering an excellent customer experience across the University. Your responsibilities will include operating the University's main switchboard, managing reception service, responding to email enquiries, welcoming visitors, responding to enquiries, maintaining records and databases, supporting events and activities, and providing administrative support across the Directorate of Student Services & Experience.

The successful candidate will have experience of working in a busy customer-facing environment, excellent communication and organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a professional and friendly approach. Experience of reception services, switchboard operation and working with a wide range of stakeholders would be advantageous.

Please note, the University reserves the right to shorten/extend the closing date of any position where a high/low volume of applications are received.

Successful applicants will be required to prove their right to work in the UK prior to the commencement of their employment.

Whilst the University of Greater Manchester is a licensed sponsor, under UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) not all roles are eligible for visa sponsorship. This position may not meet the criteria for a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS).

Eligibility will be assessed in line with Home Office requirements at the time of making an offer. For further information, please visit: https://www.gov.uk/skilled-worker-visa/your-job

The university is committed to upholding academic freedom and freedom of speech within the law. We support open and respectful debate, the exchange of ideas, and the right of staff and students to question, test, and advance knowledge without constraint, while recognising the responsibility to exercise these freedoms in a way that respects the rights of others. In addition, the Office for Students (OfS) operates an independent free speech complaints scheme for staff, job applicants and visiting speakers. Further information about eligibility and the complaints process is available from the OfS. Complaints will normally only be considered by the OfS after the University's internal procedures have been completed, including any appeal, or after 90 days have elapsed since those procedures began
