Part Time SEND HLTA

Zest Education is currently recruiting for an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a supportive primary school in Burton upon Trent on a part-time basis, working afternoons only Monday to Friday.

This is an exciting opportunity for a confident and dedicated HLTA with experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The successful candidate will be based within the school’s SEND provision/base, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs and helping to create a positive, nurturing and engaging learning environment.

Working closely with the SEND team and teaching staff, you will support pupils’ academic, social and emotional development while delivering pre-planned activities and interventions throughout the afternoon sessions.

The Role

• Part-time HLTA position
• Afternoons only, Monday to Friday
• Based in Burton upon Trent
• Working within the school’s SEND base
• Supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs
• Delivering pre-planned learning activities and interventions
• Providing small group and one-to-one support
• Promoting pupil engagement, confidence and independence
• Working closely with teachers and SEND staff
• No planning, preparation or resource creation required

The Ideal Candidate

• HLTA qualification or equivalent experience
• Previous experience working within a SEND setting
• Strong understanding of a range of additional needs
• Excellent behaviour management and communication skills
• Patient, adaptable and proactive approach
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• Passion for helping children achieve their full potential

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
