SEN Teaching Assistant (Temp to Perm)
Inspire EHC are proud to be working in partnership with a specialist SEN school in the Colchester area that is seeking a dedicated and caring Teaching Assistant to join their team on a temporary to permanent basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs and looking to secure a long-term position within a supportive and well-established specialist setting.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom. Working closely with teachers and support staff, you will help create a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment where every learner can achieve their potential.
The school supports children and young people with a range of special educational needs, including autism, and provides a highly personalised approach to learning and development.
Key Responsibilities
- Support students in lessons under the guidance of the Class Teacher
- Assist with the preparation and delivery of learning activities and individual learning plans
- Help pupils to access the curriculum and engage in learning opportunities
- Support learners with communication, social development and emotional regulation
- Accompany students on educational visits and enrichment activities
- Participate in a range of physical and outdoor activities where required
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to student progress reviews
- Promote positive behaviour and respond appropriately to challenging situations
- Support students with personal care and hygiene needs where required
- Build positive relationships with pupils, families and external professionals
- Ensure safeguarding and welfare procedures are followed at all times
- Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or Support Worker
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEN, autism or learning difficulties is highly desirable
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A patient, resilient and proactive approach
- A genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of young people
- Full UK driving licence preferred but not essential
