Financial Accountant - Urenco

This 18 month contract offers an excellent opportunity to work within a complex and commercially interesting business, with a varied Finance role, exposure to key stakeholders and the chance to contribute to important reporting, analysis and business improvement projects.
The role
The position combines established month-end and financial reporting responsibilities with more complex analytical work requiring sound judgement, initiative and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare month-end financial reports, balance sheet reconciliations and year-end statutory accounts.
- Manage financial reporting through ADRA and BPC, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Analyse financial and cost data, identifying trends, variances, risks and opportunities.
- Produce management information and cost reports to support commercial decision-making.
- Develop financial models and provide analysis for business cases, investment appraisals and strategic planning.
- Work with stakeholders to consolidate budgets, actual costs and financial information.
- Support the Budgetary Control Committee with financial reporting and analysis.
- Identify and resolve reporting issues, implementing improvements to financial processes and controls.
- Review and report on waste provisions, ensuring accurate recognition of liabilities.
- Support the SAP S/4HANA implementation, including data validation and system testing.
- Liaise with Group Finance and operational teams, providing ad hoc financial analysis and support.
Essential Requirements
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
- Strong statutory and month-end reporting experience within a large, complex organisation.
- Advanced financial modelling skills, including valuations and net present value (NPV).
- Sound knowledge of financial reporting standards and their application.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide commercial insights.
- Experience supporting business cases, investment appraisals and strategic decision-making.
- Proven problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement improvements.
- Advanced Excel skills and the ability to work collaboratively with and challenge stakeholders at all levels.
Desirable Requirements
- Previous experience within the nuclear industry or a similarly complex, highly regulated environment.
- Experience using SAP, particularly within a financial reporting environment.
- Exposure to financial systems implementations, upgrades or process improvement projects.

Security vetting
To be considered for this opportunity, you must have been resident in the UK for a minimum of five years and understand that security checks can take time following offer.
Due to the nature of the industry that Urenco operates in, all personnel regardless of employment status working for Urenco are required to obtain security clearance at the level required for their role. Security clearances are assessed in accordance with regulations and official guidance issued by the relevant competent authorities for national security vetting. In certain circumstances, additional enhanced security clearance considerations apply to roles within Urenco owing to the particular activities that the Urenco Group undertakes in relation to uranium enrichment.
