Testing Technician

Location: Rugby, Warwickshire
Salary: Flexible Depending on experience

The Opportunity:

Are you a Mechanical Technician, Engineering Technician or Test Technician who enjoys hands-on practical engineering? We’re looking for a Mechanical Testing Technician / Engineering Test Technician to join the clients team in Rugby.

This is a hands-on role involving the physical testing of security products, using test rigs, machinery and defined test procedures to assess products against in-house specifications and recognised BS, EN and ISO standards.

You don’t need previous experience in the security industry. We’re particularly interested in candidates with a mechanical engineering or practical engineering background, and training will be provided on our products and testing processes.

What will you be doing:

• As a Testing Technician, your responsibilities will include:
• Carrying out physical and mechanical testing of security products
• Performing rig and machine-based testing
• Following detailed test procedures and specifications
• Testing products against in-house, BS, EN, ISO and other relevant standards
• Recording test results accurately and producing technical test reports
• Supporting the preparation, assembly and modification of test rigs and test fixtures
• Using practical engineering skills including basic machining, fabrication and welding where required
• Liaising professionally with clients and other contacts
• Receiving and booking in test samples and deliveries
• Recording samples and maintaining accurate electronic records
• Photographing and documenting products received for testing
• Supporting the wider laboratory team with general engineering and operational tasks
• Working collaboratively within a small team while also being able to work independently

We’re looking for someone with:

• A background in mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology or practical engineering
• Hands-on experience working with mechanical equipment, machinery, products or components
• Good practical and problem-solving ability
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good IT skills and experience using Microsoft Office
• The ability to write clear and accurate technical information
• Good communication skills and confidence dealing with people at different levels
• The ability to manage your own workload, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
• A proactive approach and the ability to use your own initiative
• The ability to work effectively as part of a small team

Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:

• Mechanical or engineering testing, Product testing or validation and Test rigs or test equipment
• Machining, Fabrication, Welding, Workshop engineering, Manufacturing or production engineering
• Engineering inspection, Technical reporting
• Working to BS, EN, ISO or other technical standards
• Security product experience is not essential – training will be provided.

Job Info:
