Teacher of Physics

At Pinner High School, we believe in the power of Physics to inspire curiosity, develop critical thinking and help students understand the world around them. As a Teacher of Physics, you will play a key role in developing students’ understanding of the fundamental principles that underpin our universe, from forces, energy and motion to electricity, waves and modern Physics. You will inspire students to question, investigate and apply their knowledge to real-world situations.

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher of Physics to join our successful Science team. You will teach engaging and challenging lessons across all key stages including A Level; with an opportunity to contribute to the continued development of our sixth-form provision. Whether you are an experienced A Level teacher or are looking to develop your experience at this level, you will be supported by an experienced and collaborative department. You will have the opportunity to develop students’ mathematical and problem-solving skills alongside their practical understanding, helping them to see the relevance and excitement of Physics beyond the classroom.

We are also keen to hear from teachers who are looking for opportunities to grow as leaders. Alongside your classroom teaching, there are opportunities to contribute to curriculum development, practical science, enrichment and extra-curricular activities, or wider departmental strategy. You may also have the opportunity to support and mentor Early Career Teachers and contribute to initiatives that further develop the teaching and learning of Physics across the school.

At Pinner High School, our pedagogical approach is based on the principles of Rosenshine. All our lessons begin with a do now activity, aimed at recalling knowledge. In addition, a high proportion of students are categorised as higher ability, we therefore expect appropriate challenge in learning. Learning episodes contain challenge tasks in addition to main activities which support the progression of all students. Students often use green pens to self assess work and teachers use expert subject knowledge for assessment for learning.
