Forklift Operator - Peterlee

Location: Peterlee, County Durham
Contract: Ongoing - 2/3 years worth of work
Hours: 36.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday
Pay: £14.13 - £32.44 per hour, depending on shift and overtime

We are looking for experienced and safety-focused Forklift Operators to join our team in Peterlee on a 24-month fixed-term assignment.

The Role:

As a Forklift Operator, you will be responsible for safely moving, loading and positioning materials within the site. You will need to demonstrate excellent forklift handling skills, attention to detail and a strong commitment to health and safety.

Key Requirements:

• Minimum 1 year of forklift truck operating experience
• Valid or expired Counterbalance Forklift licence accepted
• Must hold an accredited forklift certification, such as RTITB or ITSAAR
• In-house forklift certificates are not accepted
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
• Ability to work effectively to daily targets
• Comfortable manoeuvring forklifts in tight and challenging spaces
• Excellent Pay Rates

Shift Pay Rate:
Day Shift - £14.13 - £16.22 per hour
Afternoon Shift - 20% Premium £16.96 - £19.46 per hour
Night Shift - 35% Premium £19.08 - £21.90 per hour
Overtime 1.5 - Monday to Saturday £21.20 - £24.33 per hour
Overtime 2 - Sundays £28.26 - £32.44 per hour

Working Hours:

Monday-Friday, 36.5 hours per week

Day Shift:
Monday-Thursday: 08:00-16:00
Friday: 08:00-12:30

Afternoon Shift:
Monday-Thursday: 16:00-00:00
Friday: 12:30-17:00

Night Shift:
Monday-Thursday: 00:00-08:00
Friday: 17:00-21:30

Forklift Practical Skills Test:

Candidates will be required to complete a practical forklift assessment, including:

Picking up and placing loads from/to a vertical face
Manoeuvring forwards with the load leading through a chicane
Placing loads at high level on bulk stacks, racking or stillages
Reversing 90 degrees to the right
Picking up loads at high level from bulk stacks, racking or stillages
Reversing through a chicane with the load trailing
