About the role

We are excited to be advertising for a Teacher of Computer Science. This is a permanent part-time position (0.5 FTE), and will likely initially include some second subject teaching.

There has never been a more exciting time to join our Computer Science department. Our ambitious curriculum provides learners with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to thrive in an increasingly digital world. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the continued development of a forward-thinking department that is committed to inspiring the next generation of computer scientists and digital creators.

At Key Stage 3, we have developed a broad and engaging curriculum that equips students with the skills they need to tackle the challenges of tomorrow. We place a strong emphasis on developing practical programming skills alongside the effective use of modern technology. Students explore a wide range of topics including programming, data representation, networks, cyber security, web development and emerging technologies such as AI, while building the problem-solving and computational thinking skills that underpin success in Computer Science.

At Key Stage 4, students study the Pearson Edexcel GCSE Computer Science (1CP2) specification. Our curriculum is designed to develop secure technical understanding alongside practical programming experience, enabling students to become confident, independent learners who are well prepared for further study and future careers in technology.

The department benefits from well-equipped specialist computer rooms and a culture that encourages curiosity, creativity and innovation. Extra-curricular activities are strongly supported, including a thriving Coding Club that provides students with opportunities to extend their learning beyond the classroom and develop their skills through practical projects and challenges.

We work closely with a range of external organisations and educational partners to provide students with meaningful experiences that bring Computer Science to life. These opportunities help students to understand how the skills they develop in school are applied in the modern workplace and within a wide range of industries.

We are committed to providing students with access to a variety of technologies and learning experiences that enhance their understanding of Computer Science and digital technologies. Through a combination of engaging teaching, practical learning and enrichment opportunities, we strive to foster a love of computing and inspire students to pursue further study and careers in this rapidly evolving field.

If you would like to arrange a school visit, please contact Sarah Forster, Headteacher, via Louise Rumbelow, Headteacher's PA ([email removed]) or if you have any questions in relation to the role or the recruitment process, please contact Abigail Henwood, HR Manager ([email removed]).

Thank you for your interest in this role and our school. We look forward to hearing from you!
