Senior Information System Security Officer – 12 Month Contract – SC Cleared - Warton

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Information System Security Officer to help manage, assure and continuously improve the security of information systems. This role will suit someone with strong knowledge of information assurance, security governance and risk management, who can work confidently with technical teams, stakeholders and delivery partners.

Key responsibilities
• Lead and support security assurance activity across assigned information systems.
• Maintain security documentation, risk records and evidence to support accreditation and compliance requirements.
• Assess technical and procedural security risks, recommending proportionate mitigations.
• Work with system owners, engineers and wider stakeholders to embed security requirements throughout the system lifecycle.
• Support audits, reviews and security assessments, ensuring actions are tracked through to completion.
• Provide guidance on information security policy, standards and good practice.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of security processes, controls and governance arrangements.

About you
• Experience in information security, information assurance, cyber security or a related discipline.
• Strong understanding of security risk management, governance, compliance and assurance processes.
• Ability to interpret security requirements and translate them into practical actions for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Confident communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders and influence outcomes.
• Organised, detail-oriented and able to manage priorities across multiple workstreams.
• Relevant industry certifications or experience working in regulated, defence, public sector or high-assurance environments would be advantageous.
