Senior Infrastructure Engineer
12 months initially
Warton, Lancashire (full time onsite)
£47.12ph inside IR35 / Umbrella

Role Description
• An exciting opportunity exists for an Infrastructure as Code Engineer within the Synthetic Training and Engineering Products team. As part of an existing Infrastructure team, you will be responsible for designing, automating, and managing Synthetic Training Device infrastructure through code-based tools and practices. This will include developing and maintaining reusable, scalable, and secure infrastructure deployments using technologies such as Ansible.
• The role provides opportunities to support company business both within the UK and internationally, deploying and maintaining Synthetic Training and Engineering Products.
• Proficiency will be expected in role, however, refresher on-the-job training will be provided to support the successful candidate in gaining familiarity with departmental processes, Infrastructure as Code standards and frameworks, security standards/control frameworks and broader product architectures.

Core Duties
Typical duties include (but are not limited to):
• Design, develop, and maintain Infrastructure as Code solutions to automate the deployment, configuration, and management of Synthetic & Training Engineering Products.
• Ensure infrastructure is scalable, secure, resilient, and cost-effective by implementing best practices, monitoring performance, and pursue continuous improvement inline with the infrastructure product route map/release plan.
• Collaborate with the embedded Synthetic & Training Engineering Products Security team to maintain compliance with corporate policies and security requirements but also the product specific security control framework.

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications
Knowledge:
Essential:
• In-depth knowledge of infrastructure components, architectures, and industry best practices.
• Strong experience with infrastructure automation tools, preferably Ansible, within air-gapped environments.
• A practical understanding of security best practices and the ability to coordinate with specialist engineers throughout the design, development, deployment, and assurance testing lifecycle to ensure compliance with security requirements and standards.

Desirable:
• Experience in designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining a broad range of infrastructure technologies, including but not limited to networking (Aruba/Cisco), firewalls (Palo Alto), virtualisation (VMware), Microsoft Windows Server and Client operating systems, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux, is desirable.
• Defence Sector Experience

Skills:
• The ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team. This will involve interfacing with hardware and software engineers within Synthetic Training and Engineering Products, as well as end users, maintainers, and Information System Security Engineers

• Certified in the toolsets/components mentioned in the knowledge section (Aruba/Cisco, Palo Alto, VMware, Microsoft Windows Server and Client operating systems, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

About the team you’ll be working in
• Full time on site required, Warton only.
• This team may have the need to visit customer sites, this may include domestic and international (KSA & Qatar)
• Team stands at a group of 15.
