About the role
Payroll Processor
Looking for a payroll role that values genuine work-life balance just as much as accuracy?
At Townends Accountants LLP, we believe great client service starts with a supported team. We’re looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Processor to manage payroll cycles for our diverse portfolio of clients.
Whether you are an experienced processor looking for flexible hours (via our built-in Flexitime system) or ready to take ownership of a client portfolio within a friendly, collaborative practice, then this could be the role for you.
What Makes This Role Different?
- Real Flexibility: Work on our trusted Flexitime system, helping you balance your personal life and deadlines. Open to full-time or part-time arrangements.
- Generous Time Off: 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays from day one.
- No Commute Stress: Located in Goole with convenient, free nearby parking.
- Peace of Mind & Wellbeing: Access to a contributory pension, life assurance, and a confidential Employee Assistance Programme (EAP).
What You’ll Do
- Run end-to-end payroll cycles accurately and on schedule for a wide variety of business clients.
- Manage Auto-Enrolment compliance, pensions, and statutory calculations (SMP, SPP, SSP).
- Act as a dependable, approachable point of contact for client queries, building strong, lasting relationships.
- Collaborate closely with our wider accounting and tax teams to ensure smooth service delivery.
What You Bring
- Track Record: At least 1 year of practical payroll experience (bureau or practice experience is a plus, but in-house processors looking to broaden their client exposure are welcome)
- Technical Grip: Confident with Auto-Enrolment regulations, RTI submissions, and standard payroll software.
- Sharp Eye for Detail: High numeracy and a natural instinct for spotting discrepancies before they become issues.
- Team-First Mindset: Clear communicator who enjoys working alongside friendly colleagues to beat deadlines together.
If you want to apply your payroll expertise in a firm that genuinely respects your time and contributions, we’d love to hear from you.
