About the role
Hays are delighted to be partnering with a people first business to hire a HR Business Partner on a permanent basis. This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced HR professional looking for a genuinely broad HRBP role with influence, autonomy and plenty happening from a people perspective. Partnering senior leaders across the business, and you'll have exposure to everything from complex ER and organisational change through to performance, talent, culture and employee engagement, with real scope to shape how the people agenda develops.
You'll join a supportive HR team at an interesting point of change, where a pragmatic, collaborative and human approach to HR is genuinely valued.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner and coach leaders to develop high-performing, engaged teams.
- Lead and support people projects across talent management, ED&I, employee engagement, employee and industrial relations, and reward and recognition.
- Support organisational development activities including workforce planning, culture change, organisational design and capability building.
- Develop and support plans around resourcing, training, restructuring and succession.
- Provide pragmatic advice to managers and employees on HR policies, processes and complex people matters.
- Support consultation and negotiation with recognised trade unions and employee representatives, particularly around organisational change and employee relations.
- Use people data and insight to inform strategic and operational decision-making.
- Develop and deliver training sessions and workshops for managers and employees.
- Support policy development, ensuring HR policies remain relevant, legally compliant and aligned with organisational needs.
- Manage complex employee relations activity alongside the wider operational HR workload.
- Line manage members of the HR team where required, supporting their development and performance.
- Deputise for the senior people's lead when required, including at Executive, Board and Trade Union meetings.
About you
We're looking for an experienced HR professional who can operate confidently across both the strategic and operational sides of HR. You don't necessarily need to already hold the HR Business Partner title, but you will need the breadth, judgement and confidence to work autonomously and build credibility with senior stakeholders.
- CIPD Level 5 or above, or equivalent experience.
- Strong employment law knowledge and significant complex ER experience, including grievances, investigations and challenging people matters.
- Experience supporting organisational change, restructures and performance management.
- Experience working within a unionised environment, with a collaborative and constructive approach to union relationships.
- Strong stakeholder management, coaching and influencing skills.
- A proactive, pragmatic and empathetic approach, with the confidence to take ownership and work autonomously
Working arrangements
The team works predominantly remotely, coming together on-site once a week. There is also occasional travel, quarterly and annually, that is expensed.
Benefits
Annual personal development budget, generous pension scheme, annual leave, life assurance.
