Year 1 Teacher

We are recruiting for a Year 1 Teacher to work in a lovely Primary School based in Evesham. This Year 1 Teacher role will involve taking full responsibility for the teaching and learning of a Year 1 class, planning and delivering engaging lessons, and helping to create a positive, supportive, and stimulating learning environment.

The successful candidate will have strong phonics knowledge and experience planning and delivering targeted interventions to support pupils' early reading, writing, and overall development. The school is looking for a confident and nurturing teacher who can identify gaps in learning and provide effective support to help pupils make good progress.

This role is full-time, working five days per week, starting in January and continuing until the end of the academic year in July. The position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced teacher looking for a longer-term teaching role within a supportive primary school.

As a Year 1 Teacher, your responsibilities will include:

• Taking full responsibility for the teaching and learning of a Year 1 class.

• Planning, preparing, and delivering engaging lessons across the primary curriculum.

• Creating a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.

• Delivering effective phonics sessions to support pupils' decoding, blending, segmenting, and word recognition skills.

• Planning and delivering targeted interventions to support pupils who require additional help with their learning.

• Identifying gaps in pupils' knowledge and adapting teaching and interventions to address these.

• Supporting pupils with their transition from the Early Years Foundation Stage into Key Stage 1.

• Differentiating lessons and activities to meet the needs and abilities of all pupils.

• Monitoring pupil progress and adapting teaching to ensure all learners are supported and challenged.

• Supporting pupils to develop their early reading, writing, spelling, and mathematical skills.

• Maintaining high expectations for pupil achievement, behaviour, and engagement.

• Working collaboratively with colleagues and the wider school team to ensure consistency across the year group.

• Maintaining a strong commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.

To be successful in this Year 1 Teacher role, you will need:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

• Previous experience teaching within a Primary School setting.

• A good understanding of the primary curriculum, particularly early reading, phonics, English, and Maths.

• Strong phonics knowledge and experience delivering systematic phonics teaching.

• Experience planning and delivering targeted interventions to support pupils' progress.

• The ability to identify gaps in learning and adapt teaching to meet individual pupil needs.

• Experience planning, preparing, and delivering effective, differentiated lessons.

• Confidence in taking full class teaching and planning responsibilities.

• Strong classroom management skills and the ability to maintain a positive learning environment.

• A confident, engaging, and nurturing approach to teaching and learning.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and the wider school community.

• A flexible and adaptable approach to working within a primary school environment.

• A strong commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.

• A DBS on the update service, or issued within the last 12 months.

• A minimum of two excellent references.
