Morson Edge is recruiting an Associate Electrical Engineer for an established multidisciplinary design consultancy delivering building-services projects across a broad range of sectors.
This is a senior technical and leadership position combining hands-on electrical design, project delivery, client development and team management. You will work alongside engineers, architects, support teams and external consultants to deliver coordinated solutions from initial concept through technical design and construction.
The role
You will take responsibility for the technical delivery of electrical building-services designs across a portfolio of multidisciplinary projects. Alongside leading projects and supporting the development of the electrical team, you will build client relationships, identify new opportunities and help secure repeat business.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the day-to-day delivery of electrical building-services designs.
- Developing initial engineering strategies and design concepts that meet client, regulatory and operational requirements.

- Coordinating electrical designs with mechanical, structural and architectural disciplines.
- Attending client and project meetings and translating project briefs into clear technical deliverables.
- Managing project resources, programmes, fees and expenditure.
- Reporting resource requirements and project performance to the senior management team.
- Providing technical guidance, supervision and support to engineers, apprentices and graduates.
- Supporting the recruitment, training and development of team members.
- Developing relationships with existing clients while identifying and securing new project opportunities.
- Maintaining appropriate document-control, quality and health-and-safety standards.
About you
You will be an experienced electrical building-services engineer with a strong consultancy design background and the ability to operate confidently with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
You should have:
- Extensive experience delivering electrical building-services designs, typically gained over at least ten years.
- Chartered Engineer status or an equivalent level of professional qualification.
- Experience working within a building-services or multidisciplinary engineering consultancy.
- Strong knowledge of electrical distribution, cable sizing, containment, distribution boards, lighting and associated schedules.
- Experience delivering projects from initial concept through technical design and construction support.
- A sound understanding of relevant British Standards, regulations and design guidance.
- Experience using modern design and coordination tools such as Revit, BIM, ElectricalOM, Dialux or Relux.
- The ability to produce clear specifications, calculations, reports and design documentation.
- Experience managing project fees, resources, programmes and technical deliverables.
- Strong client-facing, communication and influencing skills.
- Evidence of mentoring, managing or developing engineers.
- Experience supporting work-winning activity and developing client relationships.
- A full UK driving licence.
What is offered
- Salary of £65,000-£80,000, depending on experience.
- £5,000 annual car allowance.
- 28 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays.
- 12 additional Fridays off each year.
- 37.5-hour working week.
- Flexible start times of 8:00am, 8:30am or 9:00am.
- Reserved car-parking provision.
- A senior role with influence over technical delivery, clients and team development.
- The opportunity to work within a collaborative architecture and engineering consultancy.
