Remote
3 Month Contract + Possible 3 Month Extension
Start Date: Mid-January 2027
Up to £450 p/d Inside IR35
Are you a .NET Developer who enjoys taking an established application estate and bringing it right up to date? This Contract .NET Developer role is a fully remote, 3 month engagement with a well-established UK retail business, upgrading its .NET applications to the most recent framework versions. The role starts in mid-January.
You’ll join the in-house development team that looks after the applications behind the business’s UK retail operations. It’s a focused, hands-on upgrade project with a clear goal, and there’s the possibility of a further 3 month extension.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Upgrading existing .NET applications to the most recent supported versions of the framework
- Assessing the current codebase, dependencies and third-party packages, and resolving breaking changes along the way
- Refactoring and testing code so upgraded applications behave exactly as expected in live service
- Working in Azure DevOps for source control, builds and release pipelines
- Agreeing implementation, backup and roll-back plans with the development and test managers for each change
- Documenting changes clearly so the in-house team can support the upgraded applications going forward
What You’ll Bring
- Strong, recent commercial experience as a .NET Developer using C#
- Hands-on experience of upgrading .NET applications between framework versions, including resolving breaking changes
- Experience with Azure DevOps or similar source control and CI/CD tooling
- A track record of delivering upgrade or modernisation work to a fixed timescale on contract
- Experience of supporting applications in a live production environment
Desirable: Oracle SQL and PL/SQL, Oracle APEX, Azure, retail sector experience
