Are you a passionate Chef looking for a role where you can focus on preparing great food whilst enjoying a healthy work-life balance?
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Chef to join our catering team, providing high-quality, nutritious meals for students, staff and visitors whilst helping to create a positive dining experience within our school community.
As Chef, you will work alongside the wider catering team to support the day-to-day operation of the kitchen, including food preparation, menu planning, stock management and food service. You will play an important role in maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene and customer service, whilst contributing new ideas and initiatives to support the continued development of the catering provision.

One of the key benefits of this role is the excellent work-life balance it offers. Unlike many catering roles, this position does not require regular evening or weekend working, allowing you to pursue your passion for food whilst maintaining valuable personal and family time.
About You
We are looking for a hardworking, reliable and customer-focused individual who enjoys working in a busy kitchen environment and takes pride in delivering a high-quality service.
You will have:
- An understanding of the working conditions within a busy kitchen environment.
- City & Guilds 706/1 qualification (or equivalent) or be working towards this qualification.
- NVQ Level 1 and 2 Hospitality and Catering qualifications (or equivalent) or be working towards these qualifications.
- Knowledge of regulations and legislation relating to safe and hygienic working practices within a catering environment, including food hygiene and COSHH regulations.
- Knowledge of healthy eating and dietary requirements.
- Knowledge of manual handling within a catering environment.
- Appropriate first aid qualifications or a willingness to undertake training where required.
- Experience of ordering stock and stock management.
- Experience of menu planning and preparing meals for commercial activity.
- The ability to safely operate a range of kitchen equipment and machinery.
- Competence in food preparation and cooking tasks.
- The ability to maintain a clean, safe and hygienic working environment.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey information effectively and accurately.
- The ability to work to deadlines whilst remaining flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
Applicants are advised to refer to the full requirements of the role in the attached job description and person specification, prior to submitting an application.
