About the role

Quantity Surveyor | Main Contractor | Leeds | £50k – £70k + Package

Looking for a Quantity Surveyor role where you can run your own projects, have real commercial responsibility and progress as the business grows?

We're working with a growing main contractor that has recently secured a number of new projects with long-standing clients, creating a strong pipeline of repeat work and further opportunities for growth.

As a result, they're looking to bring an experienced Quantity Surveyor into the team who can hit the ground running and take commercial ownership of their own projects from the outset.

This isn't a role where you'll be sitting underneath several layers of commercial management. You'll be trusted to run your projects autonomously, working closely with the operational team and having direct involvement with clients, subcontractors and the wider supply chain.

The Role;

  • Take commercial ownership of your own projects from pre-construction through to final account
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, appointments, valuations and payments
  • Produce cost reports, forecasts and monitor project performance
  • Manage variations, change control and contractual correspondence
  • Identify commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project
  • Work closely with Site Managers and operational teams to drive project performance
  • Manage client valuations and commercial reporting
  • Negotiate subcontractor and client final accounts
  • Build strong relationships with clients, consultants and the supply chain
  • Support the commercial aspects of new and repeat projects as the business continues to grow

What We're Looking For;

  • Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contracting environment
  • Comfortable taking responsibility for your own projects
  • Strong understanding of subcontract procurement and commercial management
  • Good contractual and commercial awareness
  • Ability to manage projects from procurement through to final account
  • Confident dealing directly with clients and subcontractors
  • Commercially astute with strong negotiation skills

Why Consider It?

  • Join a contractor at an exciting stage of its growth
  • Strong pipeline of secured work with established, repeat clients
  • Genuine autonomy to commercially manage your own projects
  • Direct access to senior management and involvement in key commercial decisions
  • Varied project portfolio across commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, civils and refurbishment
  • Opportunity to grow with the business rather than wait for someone above you to move on
  • Clear potential to progress into Senior QS and commercial management positions as the team expands

This would suit an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking to take the next step in their career, whether that's gaining greater responsibility for their own projects, more commercial autonomy or a clearer route into a senior position.

You'll be joining a business that's growing on the back of secured projects and repeat clients, giving you the opportunity to establish yourself as a key member of the commercial team and progress into Senior QS and commercial management roles as the business expands.

Interested? Get in touch for a confidential conversation and I'll happily talk you through the business, secured workload, projects and package in more detail.
