Skilled CNC Operative / CNC Machinist, Barnsley

An excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC Operator/Setter looking to join a growing manufacturing business on a permanent contract. You will play a key role in the production process, taking responsibility for the setup, operation, and optimisation of CNC machinery while ensuring high standards of quality, efficiency, and safety are maintained.

• Monday to Thursday, 6am – 2pm / Friday, 6am – 1pm
• Monday to Thursday, 12pm – 8pm / Friday, 12pm – 7pm

• Up to £30,000 per annum – Dependent on experience + £40 per week shift allowance

• Holidays – 25 days plus bank holidays plus a day off for birthday

• Set up, program and operate CNC machinery to achieve production targets.
• Monitor machining operations and make adjustments to optimise performance and product quality.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
• Carry out first-off inspections and quality checks using relevant measuring equipment.
• Troubleshoot machine issues and work proactively to minimise downtime.
• Ensure products are manufactured to the required quality standards and tolerances.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the production department.
• Assist with machine maintenance and routine preventative maintenance checks.
• Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
• Adhere to all health and safety procedures and promote a safe working environment.
• Mentor and support less experienced team members where required.

• Experience operating and setting CNC machinery within a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Experience using inspection and measuring equipment such as verniers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and production methods.
• Knowledge of CNC programming would be advantageous.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable, proactive, and organised approach to work.
• Basic computer skills and experience completing production documentation.
