Head of Learning and Development

Handle are working with this well known creative organsition to find a Head of Learning & Development to join their London HQ People team

This is a broad and varied role with lots of scope to shape the learning agenda. Leading a small team, you'll oversee the UK learning offering and work closely with senior business leaders and the people team to understand where development can make the biggest impact.

Leadership development is a key focus for this person. You'll get under the skin of the challenges facing senior managers and directors, then shape solutions that help them most effectively their teams and improve performance. There's scope for elevating the function and bringing fresh ideas to the table. Its a great role for a truly commercial L&D practiotioner, someone who enjoys building an approach and startegy around what the business actually needs.

What you'll be doing:

• Setting the direction for the learning offering across digital learning, workshops and development programmes.

• Building trusted relationships with senior leaders and advising on their teams' development needs.

• Designing and shaping leadership development, with some facilitation when needed.

• Leading and developing a small L&D team and managing the budget.

• Supporting talent development and succession planning alongside the wider People team.

• Evaluating what's working and showing the difference it makes.

Who you are:

We're looking for someone with a strong senior L&D or talent development background who enjoys being close to the business. You'll be curious about how different teams work, confident asking questions and comfortable challenging senior stakeholders.

You'll have led a team and shaped leadership development solutions yourself. You should be able to talk through what you've delivered, why you took that approach and what changed as a result.

There's a balance of strategic thinking and rolling sleeves up in this team, so you'll be happy setting direction while staying close to the work itself.

Sector experience is open, its your commercial understanding, relationship skills and breadth of experience which will matter most.
